The Cedar hat is a men’s crochet beanie pattern made with 1 skein or less in your favourite chunky yarn. If the men in your life can be picky like mine, this pattern has simple classic stitches that nobody could refuse.
This pattern is a design that’s easy to wear for the whole family, coming in sizes newborn to large adult. Worked bottom up, it’s beginner friendly and very quick.
Faux fur pom pom or not, it’s up to you, I personally love the look of both.
The tweed yarn in these two samples is King Cole and while I love the rustic vibes from the tweediness, the solid colour versions look great too with amazing stitch definition.

Men’s Crochet Beanie Pattern
What you’ll need
- <160 yards or 100g of chunky weight yarn (1 skein)
- 6.5mm hook
- Scissors and needle for finishing
I used King Cole Chunky Tweed in Canna and Eigg, it’s very soft for a chunky yarn and doesn’t have that stiffness that a lot of bulkier yarns tend to have.
