Introducing the larksfoot granny square crochet pattern! It’s a fun go-to to make a unique granny square blanket with a twist, using the larksfoot stitch. Granny squares are a great project to take on the go or keep a pile next to the sofa as you’re working on them
The pattern has a video tutorial, stitch chart, and standard written pattern for making the squares, along with a joining method and direction chart for a join-as-you-go method.
Use any DK you like for this blanket. I used mainly Paintbox Simply DK with some stash yarn throw in too. It keeps it affordable and not too heavy, even if you go for a bigger size.
The pattern is completely customizable from colour to size, including a guide for 7 different sizes from pram/stroller size up to king. The blanket join-as-you-go, so you can crochet the blocks together while working on the blanket if you prefer, instead of at the end, finishing with a border afterwards. I prefer to lay out my squares before I join them so I can see the colours and choose where I want them, I don’t do too well with random!
A video tutorial to walk through the squares is below, with the full written pattern available in PDF further down.
