Face Scrubbie Pattern & Basket Set

Looking for the quickest crochet set that will have you feeling super productive after making more than 10 different parts in no time at all? Sunday evening and I knew I had to make a batch of face scrubbies but I was over using the skinny cotton and detailed face scrubbie pattern I usually use for wash products, such as this face cloth.

My hands needed a rest from the tiny hooks so I decided to try something different and go with simple. I upped the yarn weight and used Paintbox Aran Cotton and it was such a relaxing change.

I started to make the scrubbies and after getting through a couple I thought I should make some more for myself because i’m always losing them. And why am I losing them? Because I leave them all over the place; in the bathroom, cabinets, bedroom, dresser, drawers. Miss Marie Kondo wouldn’t be impressed.

So I decided i’d make a little basket to keep them all in and keep it cute. Read on and you’ll find THE most straightforward face scrubbie pattern, and a pattern for the little basket i’ll be keeping them in.

It’s sized to comfortably fit 10, though you definitely get a couple more in if you’d prefer to have more of the face pads on rotation.

Materials

<1 skein of Paintbox Aran Cotton (or another worsted weight cotton)
5.5mm hook
Scissors and needle for ends

I’ve also heard good things from people making this in the Paintbox Simply Aran, still does a great job in acrylic and apparently dries much quicker! This yarn comes in so many beautiful colours too.

Row 1 – In a magic ring, CH2 then work 6 DC. SS into the 1st DC. Pull ring closed (6)
Row 2 – CH2, work 2DC into every DC around. SS into the 1st DC. (12)
Row 3 – CH2, work 2DC into every DC around. SS into the 1st DC. (24)
Close off and weave in ends.

And that’s it for the scrubbies, you’ll be making them with your eyes closed! There are prettier designs out there, with puffs, bobbles, front and back posts, and all that fancy stuff, but sometimes simple does it better and in this case I think that’s true.

It might be fun to make a bunch of lovely detailed face pads in a pretty delicate yarn, but if you’re short on time or effort levels then I don’t think it really matters for something that you’re only going to take your make up off with and chuck in the wash!

In the corner ch2 sp work 2dc, ch2, 2dc. Dc in the next 3 sts. In the corner ch2 sp work 2dc, ch2, 2dc. Sl st into 3rd ch from the start of the row (44 dcs)

Row 3 – ch1 (does not count as a st), sc into every dc around. In each corner, work 1 sc into the corner space – not the actual ch stitches. Sl st to join. (48)

Row 4 – ch1, sc into every dc around, sl st to join. (48)

Repeat row 4 for a further 6 rows, totalling 8 rows of SC at a stitch count of 48. SS to close and weave in the ends to finish.

Hope you like this face scrubbie pattern and I’d love to see what other colours you guys make these in, I think some in aqua/teal tones would be so pretty.
